A box of Pizza Shapes.. & a Bounty.

For my 21st birthday, my husband woke me up and said Happy Birthday and ran to get me my presents.

I opened the first one... A Bounty (The chocolate kind). Now, I love a good chocolate bar every now and then. And I'll admit I've had my fair share of Bounty. But this is my twenty first we're talking about. Usually irreplaceable gifts are intercepted as keepsakes. I wasn't exactly going to keep this Bounty for years on end to show our grandkids. I put it to the side and gave Shane a weird look, but a kiss on the cheek regardless. "I'll enjoy that later."

So anyway, I opened the next present... A Massive Attack CD. So, Shane and I had our first dance to "Teardrop" by Massive Attack. And we both love that song. However, I have since tried to listen to their other songs.. But I'm less than impressed. I thought that Shane knew this.

Next present, a box of Pizza Shapes. I buy myself a box of shapes almost every time we do our grocery shopping. It's usually either Pizza or Barbeque flavour. (Don't get me wrong, the other flavours are amazing.. i.e. Chicken Crimpy, Cheese & Bacon, Cheddar etc, but I know that I don't have to be in a particular mood to enjoy Pizza or Barbeque.) It just so happened that on our last grocery shop, we bought a mammoth packet of individual servings of Pizza and Barbeque Shapes. So I really felt that this box of Pizza Shapes sitting in front of me was.. Redundant.

Last present turned out to be a cordless telephone with included answering machine for our home. Which I did want at some stage (because our hamburger phone had seen better days).. But I felt like I may as well have been given bed sheets.

Why am I upset about all this? Because on Christmas morning when Shane opened his 16 presents (and I opened my 4), he promised me that he would spoil me to no end for my twenty first. And so far, I was pretty disappointed.

After Shane had left for work, I baked myself some cupcakes and brownies while I hummed to myself "happy birthday to me.." before Jes came to take me on a picnic. While we were on our picnic, I voiced a little bit that maybe Shane didn't really know who I was at all. I left him a specific list of things I wanted for my birthday and he completely ignored it. I was left to my thoughts for a little bit...

Shane got me Shapes and a Bounty because he knew I liked them. And he didn't like them at all, so I wouldn't have to share them. He bought me Massive Attack because the band has sentimental value. And the Answering machine was actually pretty fun to make our own personal message. The real present I thought, was that Shane went in late to work so I would be awake to hang out with him for a bit, as it was my day off. We even had breakfast together (Although I'm not sure if it's counted as breakfast if I had Froot Loops... More of a dessert).

After the picnic, I came home to some flowers left at my front door and at this point, I hate to say it, but I really don't like roses. They did look very sweet though..The colours were lovely.. And in such a beautiful vase. I loved the little note that was attached "From Hubby". He later explained that the florists were out of snap dragons -the flowers I really do have a soft spot for- so he left the sisters to decide (since they're also my friends). And I'm always happy to receive fresh flowers that aren't from a supermarket. Aw Shane, you DO know me!

With most exquisite restaurants closed on a Monday, it was a last minute decision that we'd go to Gymea for dinner instead of the promised "SummerSalt". The weather was perfect, so we dined outside. We were too full for dessert so we spontaneously went to the movies and saw Avatar 3D for the second time. One of the things I love most in life is spontaneity. So by the end of the day, I was feeling pretty great.

Today (almost two weeks later), I opened the box of Pizza Shapes while listening to the Massive Attack CD for the first time.

...Turns out, it's pretty alright.

The day I met Dorothy the Dinosaur

I was very excited indeed.

ham.

Dear Mrs Barrett,
Today in my lunch break, I bought a Frankie magazine and read it at a place I've always wanted to go, but have not been cool nor confident enough. But with Frankie -my reliable source- under my arm, I was invincible. I went to Ham. And I must say that it was the best foccacia I have ever ever had. Can't wait to go back for more! So thanks Frankie for giving me the coolness and confidence to try the hippest place on the block. And thank you, Mrs B for always raving about it.
Love Mrs Beresford.

Saloon

It was raining pretty hard at Dreamworld, so Shane and I went into the first shelter we came to.
Turns out, Shane is total babe in a hat and I remembered why I never wanted to wear a garter underneath my wedding dress. We had fun. And we got dry in the process.

It's my birthday today.

Today, I turn 21. My friend (who turns 18 & a half tomorrow) took me to Camelia Gardens for a picnic and photos.
I used a whole pack of Polaroid film. And I don't regret it. :)

Sewn.

I tend to find inspirtation when I'm around people.. So my friend George kindly offered her presence while we sewed together. This is project number one: completed. Sort of. They need a home. They're up for grabs if you want to comment in 25 words or less why you want them... And I'll see what I can do.
